HAPA
HAPA is inspired by the life and legacy of Dr Thomas W. Patrick Sr.
Doctor Thomas W. Patrick Sr (1872-1953) migrated from Haiti to the United States as a child with his family in 1892. While in the U.S he became a Pharmacist and a Doctor providing healthcare education, medical services and pharmaceutical knowledge to the Haitian community.
We, at HAPA, strive to continue Dr. Patrick's legacy by providing the much needed services within the Haitian American community and in other communities where our expertise is also needed.

Dr. Alexandre Auguste
Dr. Auguste Alexandre received his B.S. in Pharmacy from Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York in 1996 and became licensed to practice pharmacy the same year. He served as pharmacy manager of several major chain community pharmacies for 12 years. He currently serves as a clinical pharmacist at Palmetto General Hospital where he has been for the past ten years. In 2014, he earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm D) from Howard University in Washington D.C. Dr. Alexandre enjoys serving his community by working with the less fortunate. HAPA has given him the opportunity to fulfill his passion.


Margarita Francois-Ottinot received her undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Howard University in 1995. After graduating from Howard University, Dr. Ottinot attended Florida A & M University School Of Pharmacy, where she received her PharmD in 2004. She worked at CVS Pharmacy as the pharmacy manager from 2004 to 2007. Dr. Ottinot currently works for Walgreens Pharmacy.

Joelle Desir is a graduate of ST JOHN'S UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF PHARMACY class of '92. She has gathered extensive experience in pharmacy practice in the USA and abroad. She has over 25 years of experience as a Compounding Pharmacist/Nutritionist/ and Anti-Aging. She is a
specialist involved in programs and areas pertaining to Drug Policies and Regulations, Pharmacovigilance, Quality Assurance and Quality Control, Drug, food and cosmetic manufacturing and development; Investigation and evaluation of pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industries pertaining to current Good Manufacturing Practice standards (GMP / both the USA and Canada); US Federal Rules and Regulations regarding food, drugs and cosmetics (CFR and FD&C; Elaboration and Implementation of Drug Policies and Regulations; Coordination and implementation of Drug Action Programs, particularly the Essential Drug Program for third world countries, et cetera.
HAPA is proud to collaborate with such a specialist as a member of the Board of Directors.
Margaret Duvivier graduated with a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy in 1984. She holds a registered and consultant pharmacist licenses in Florida. Over the past 3 decades, she had held a variety of administrative and clinical pharmacy positions in some of the most prestigious medical health systems in South Florida i.e Jackson Health, Mount Sinai, Memorial Health, Tenet Health and State of Florida Department of Health (DOH). In 2010, with a Haitian earthquake recovery team she participated and observed the lifesaving impact of her profession as a pharmacist in times of crisis, tragedy and natural disasters. This experience has renewed her passion of serving the underserved communities in South Florida and Haiti.

Michel Tanis, PharmD
MEDIA RELATIONS
DR. Michelange Tanis, originally from Pompano Beach, FL, began his academic career at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, FL, in the Fall of 1998, where he received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in the spring of 2005. Mike is currently a community and hospital pharmacist practicing in the South Florida area. Mike has a passion for music, healthcare, and community service and he is committed to using his knowledge, skills, and energy for the betterment of those with whom he comes in contact. Mike believes in the power of learning and has a desire to share with and serve his community in an effort to uplift those that would benefit from what he has to offer.

Myriame M. Jeanty, RPh
TREASURER
Myriame Marjorie Jeanty Graduated at Arnold and Marie Schwartz college of pharmacy, Brooklyn, New York. She has been practicing pharmacy in the state of Florida for the past 30 years specializing in chemotherapy for pediatric and geriatric patients. Ms Jeanty is honored to be part of this great organization HAPA where she will use her skills to provide excellent insight into various aspects of pharmacy practice that would benefit the local community.

Gisele D. Pean, RPh

Gisele Dessources Pean studied Pharmacy at St John’s University in New York and graduated in 1986. Before and after graduation she worked at St Joseph Hospital for 4 years then moved to Florida. She worked at Pembroke Pines Hospital for 2 years and Eckerd Drugs for 10 years. She worked at Walgreens for 17 years. She now works s a part-time Pharmacist for 2-3 days a week. She is very happy to have been one of the founding members of the Haitian-American Pharmacists Association (HAPA) where she dedicates her time and skills and knowledge to help the community.

Abner Césaire, Rph

Abner Cesaire graduated from pharmacy school in 1994 at Arnold & Marie Schwartz School of Pharmacy in Brooklyn, New York. During the past two decades, he has had the opportunity to work in several pharmacies, independent and chain drug stores, like Pharmax, Best Pharmacy Corp., Cullen Home Health Pharmacy, Eckerd Drugs, CVS Pharmacy, Publix Supermarket and Eighty-Eight Pharmacy & Discount. Mr. Cesaire also has experience in providing pharmacy services in Home Care Infusion.

Dr. Lurette Prenus, Pharm D
SECRETARY
Dr. Lurette Prenus graduated from Florida A&M University in April 2006 with her doctorate degree in pharmacy. She encompasses extensive experiences within both hospital and retail pharmacies. She has worked for some of the most prestigious hospitals in Broward County such as Broward General Medical Center and Memorial Hospital Pembroke. She also has extensive work experiences with some of the major retail chains such as Walgreens and CVS. She enjoys reading, dancing, and traveling. Dr. Prenus is a proud member of the Haitian American Pharmacists Association. She serves as secretary of the board and she is committed to serving the communities of South Florida.
